At the International School of Como, we understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional wellbeing. Physical Education is part of the curriculum and is integrated within the PYP and MYP curriculum. At ISC we instigate students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and enthusiasm to endeavour and discover their full potential. Lessons are planned with the aim to offer a holistic approach including physical, social and emotional well-being.
Sports and Extra-Curriculum
Students at ISC are also encouraged to participate in extra curriculum events which include various competitions against other International Schools. These are great opportunities that provide students with ample occasions to build new relationships and strengthen existing ones. We believe that while being successful in sports competitions is an outstanding achievement, students should primarily be encouraged to exhibit sportsmanship, fair play and team work. Competitive sports at ISC is child centred and is particularly focused on enriching students’ life.
Team work at ISC is highly valued and each year during the first term of school ISC students participate in a Sports Bonding Day. Students during these days’ experience different outdoor adventurous activities such as sailing, climbing and high ropes. These events are carried out in the near outdoor pristine mountainous area including Lake Como and Lecco. The activities are aimed at providing students with the opportunity to work together for a common goal.
The yearly ski week is offered as an extra-curriculum event and students are highly encouraged to participate.
Towards the end of each scholastic year, students have the opportunity to compete in various athletic events.
