Exceptional Opportunities to Unleash Your Child's Talents

Beyond academics, ISC provides a wide range of programmes and courses that allow our students to express themselves and reach their full potential. These activities include Physical and Health Education, Creative and Performing Arts, Public Speaking, and Socio-Emotional Development, all integrated into the curriculum. Alongside student leadership opportunities and after-school extracurricular clubs, we also offer enriching field trips, House competitions, and school events.

All our students can enhance their learning beyond regular lesson time through these various opportunities. By promoting healthy habits and well-being, fostering new interests, and cultivating individual talents, these activities develop skills and traits such as creativity, leadership, collaboration, and self-confidence. These attributes are essential for success in the modern workplace, regardless of your child’s chosen career path.

The Arts

The Arts

While creative and performing arts are integral to our Primary and Middle School (PYP and MYP) curricula through subjects like Visual Arts, Drama, and Music, we also offer numerous opportunities for artistic engagement beyond the classroom. Our Co-Curricular Programme, school visits, and workshops led by experienced teachers in well-equipped studios are some examples. Many students choose to further focus on these subjects as they enter the Diploma Programme (DP) and beyond.

NISSA Sports League

NISSA Sports League

In addition to Physical Education lessons, internal sports tournaments, and sports extracurricular activities and clubs, our school is a member of the Northern International School Sports Association (NISSA). NISSA provides students with opportunities to compete in sporting events against other international schools from Italy and the Italian-speaking Canton of Ticino in Switzerland. Formed in 2012, it features several member schools.

Each academic year, NISSA offers regular fixtures, invitational events, and seasonal tournaments for Primary Years, Middle School (U14), and Varsity level (U18) students in sports such as badminton, basketball, cross country, football, tennis, and volleyball. Our Primary Years students are currently undefeated in the competition.

Leadership, Personal Development & Community

We emphasise active student involvement and action within the community. This includes participating in art exhibitions and performances, collaborating on various school projects, and engaging in House activities or the student council to develop important life skills such as communication, creativity, leadership, teamwork, and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Furthermore, the IB core elements also prioritise action through service and other community activities from the Primary Years onwards, culminating with CAS (Community, Activity, Service) in the IBDP.

Our Student Council addresses school-wide issues and creates meaningful activities. Students are expected to take their responsibility to the council seriously. In return, their views will be valued and respected when planning the school's future. Taking part in the student council develops proactivity, leadership skills, collaboration, effective communication, and responsibility.

Our House System fosters camaraderie, healthy competition, and school spirit. When students join ISC, they are assigned to one of four Houses—Da Vinci, Galileo, Levi-Montalcini, or Dante—and stay with their House throughout their time at school. This system helps younger students build confidence and teaches older ones responsibility and leadership skills, as well as how to act as role models to their younger peers.

Marking the transition from Grade 9 into Grade 10 (Middle to High School) is important for helping our students understand not just the skills, but the attitudes required to be successful in High School.

In order to support our students during this important transition, we have created an exciting multi-day experiential journey through the Alps called ISC Il Cammino. This unique programme is designed to challenge students to acquire new skills, enhance their leadership abilities, foster creativity and resilience, and develop emotional, organisational, and practical intelligence.

At ISC, we always strive to minimise the impact of our actions on the environment. Therefore, every new project undertaken at school considers environmental consequences. The Eco Warriors team, comprising proactive students in Grades 2 to 6, meets weekly to discuss and address environmental issues at school, aiming to achieve the Green Flag Award.
