INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA

The IB Diploma is the culmination of the IB Continuum. Each of the six subjects taken in the Diploma is graded from 7 to 1 and the overall sum is combined to give a total score that incorporates further points earned in Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay. The Diploma is awarded to students with at least 24 points, providing certain general conditions are met, and the maximum number of points earned in the Diploma is 45. A small number of students may take a seventh subject, although this does not contribute to the official IB Diploma score.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS’ ASSESSMENT (ISA)

We are pleased to share the International School Assessments results that were taken in February 2021. ISA assessments are taken each February at ISC in certain classes. In PYP we assess Grade 4 to Grade 6, the purpose of these assessments is to practice formal assessments in order to prepare for the MYP ahead.

In MYP we assess Grade 8 and Grade 10.

ISA assessments have an international focus and can be taken in Mathematical Literacy, Scientific Literacy (in the MYP), Reading and Writing. With the data collected we are able to have an overview of how our students are doing at ISC in comparison to other international students world wide. If we find any areas of concern our teachers will use the data to improve the teaching and the learning experiences of our students.

The results show that an IB education not only teaches your children what life-long learning looks like, but it equips them to face unknown contexts under test conditions. The ISA results reflect the huge work the community has put into the Approaches to Learning (AtL) Skills as the improved confidence that the students had to tackle these assessments is reflected in the results. Well done ISC!
